Domain has embarked on a new venture into virtual reality (VR), with the creation of an Apple Vision Pro app.

The company stated the new VR capabilities would “[redefine] the property search experience with a groundbreaking three-dimensional interface”.

Users of the Apple Vision Pro headset will have access to a range of new features designed to make the property search more immersive and interactive for prospective home buyers.

Familiar Domain filters and search tools – including the “map draw” feature – will still be available on the app, allowing users to refine their search according to their specific property needs.

The “limitless” screen space allows users to view multiple listings simultaneously, while floor plans can be viewed side-by-side with photos to better allow users to visualise the layout.

The app includes an integration with Apple Maps’ “look-around” feature, enabling app users to walk around their local neighbourhoods via the virtual interface.

According to Domain, users will be able to “seamlessly blend digital content with the physical world and navigate homes and neighbourhoods with their eyes, hands and voice”.

Rebecca Darley, chief marketing officer and managing director of Domain’s consumer division, stated that the Apple Vision app launch would improve the property search experience for users.

“Designed specifically for Vision Pro, the Domain app allows users to immerse themselves in homes and the surrounding suburb like never before,” said Darley.

“Domain is committed to enhancing the property journey and this technology propels us to new frontiers, empowering users to make informed and confident decisions,” she stated.

Virtual and augmented reality technologies have been making headlines in the real estate world, with Ray White Cheltenham’s Greg Brydon recently wearing Apple Vision goggles during a Melbourne property auction.

The rise of VR technology has received mixed reviews from industry leaders, with some hailing it as property’s next big thing, and others questioning its usefulness for everyday operations.
