An online platform is stepping up its efforts to disrupt Australia’s “billion-dollar” conveyancing industry with the help of a new investor.

Settle Easy, an online conveyancing platform that officially launched in 2020, has inked a deal with Scaleup Mediafund to expand the proptech’s marketing efforts.

The media-for-equity model sees Scaleup Mediafund take a stake in the firm, with Settle Easy gaining access to Scaleup’s advertising and marketing inventory.

Founded in 2017, Scaleup Mediafund has invested over $45 million in advertising and marketing inventory to support Australia's start-up sector, backed by the likes of Newscorp, REA Group, Nova Entertainment and Foxtel.

With previous investments in dozens of businesses, including Hawke’s Brewing, vitamin delivery company Vitable, and funeral industry disruptor Bare, this latest funding round – worth $15 million – saw the investor also take a stake in non-alcoholic drinks business Naked Life, as well as the investment in Settle Easy.

Sam Almaliki, co-founder and CEO of Settle Easy, said that the partnership would allow the growing proptech to “significantly enhance our brand presence and further extend our services to help more Australians navigate the property market”.

“This investment will solidify our position as the number one provider of settlement services for property buyers and sellers,” he added.

Almaliki said Settle Easy would focus on investing in high-impact marketing initiatives that attract new customers and enhance brand awareness, while also doubling down on improving customer experience.

Michael Lamont, investment principal at Scaleup Mediafund, explained why the investment group felt that Settle Easy was a good fit for its mission.

“Our goal is to provide consumer-facing brands with affordable access to impactful branding and advertising opportunities in exchange for equity. Settle Easy’s vision aligns perfectly with our commitment to helping founders build their brands and accelerate their growth trajectories,” he said.

This deal comes on the heels of Settle Easy inking a deal with major national network Raine & Horne to serve as the brand’s official conveyancing partner.
