Combined capital city auction volumes will rise slightly this week amid year-end fluctuations.

According to CoreLogic, 2,758 capital city homes are set to go under the hammer in the week ending 1 December, a rise from 2,640 homes taken to auction last week and a decrease from the 2,963 auctions this time last year.

Melbourne is set to host 1,222 auctions this week, up from the prior week’s 1,161. Volumes have dropped compared to the 1,375 auctions held across the city this time in 2023.

Sydney is also expected to see an increase in auction volume, with 1,082 live sale events currently scheduled this week. The previous week saw 994 homes pencilled in for auction, while this time last year 1,081 auctions were held.

Across the smaller capitals, Brisbane takes the lead in auctions again with 176 homes set to go under the hammer, a steady decline from the previous week’s 235 homes taken to auction.

Adelaide follows with 169 live event sales scheduled for this week, slowly rising after last week’s drop to 140 auctions.

Canberra is expected to reduce in auctions by one, with 95 auctions set to be scheduled this week. Perth continues its slight fluctuation in numbers with 14 auctions set to be held this week.

It is expected that just under 2,500 capital city homes will be set for auction across the combined capitals next week.
